Meet the owner

Opened by Abbey Uhlenhopp in May of 2020, The Second Rise is a home-based, cottage bakery in Omaha, NE selling sourdough goods. Each hand crafted good is made with a sourdough culture which was created and nurtured by Abbey since October 2019. At The Second Rise, Abbey is committed to using locally sourced ingredients.

The Second Rise started in service to the Des Moines, IA community through monetary support and fundraisers for marginalized peoples in the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and houseless communities. This service to community will now and always be at the heart of the bakery with 10% of profits being directed to local organizations.
